Weymouth attractions that closed but are still listed as open somewhere online. Nobody else in town publishes this, and it may be the most useful page we have.
Jurassic Skyline observation tower
The old Weymouth Sea Life Tower, a 53 metre observation tower on the harbourside that opened in 2012. It failed to reopen for the 2019 season, Merlin announced permanent closure on 2 August 2019, and the last section came down on 9 December 2019. Third party guides still list it as an attraction.
Go here instead. There is no permanent observation attraction in Weymouth. The free view from Nothe Gardens is the best substitute and it costs nothing.

Cineworld Weymouth
The town's only cinema shut after 25 years when the landlord rejected proposals to keep it going. It was the first of six sites closed under Cineworld's restructuring.
Go here instead. Weymouth Pavilion has shown films since 21 February 2025 on an eleven metre screen, including new releases and live streams. Otherwise Dorchester or Poole.

Weymouth Bowl, St Nicholas Street
There is no bowling alley in Weymouth. Dorset Council bought the long leasehold in January 2022, demolition was approved unanimously in April 2024, and the cleared site has been under archaeological evaluation.
Go here instead. Nearest confirmed lanes are the Jurassic Fun Centre in Bridport, six ten pin lanes, bookable from noon.

The Channel Islands ferry from Weymouth
Condor moved its main UK port to Poole in 1997 and the last Weymouth sailings were in 2015 when Condor Liberation entered service. Funding to rebuild the berth was never secured. People still turn up at the Quay with a suitcase.
Go here instead. Condor sail to Guernsey from Poole, and to the Channel Islands from Portsmouth. Neither leaves from Weymouth.

The Blue Flag on Weymouth Beach
Weymouth Central Beach flies the Seaside Award, not the Blue Flag. The flag was lost in 2025 after bathing water quality dropped from Excellent to Good in 2024 testing, taking the star rating from three to two. Three is the minimum for a Blue Flag. Sixteen sewage overflow discharges were recorded at Chafey's Lake in 2024, up from twelve.
Go here instead. The beach still holds the Seaside Award and is lifeguarded daily from 2 May to 27 September. The 2026 Dorset Blue Flags are at Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks, Durley Chine, Fisherman's Walk, Highcliffe and Shore Road.

Brewers Quay as a visitor attraction
The shopping village closed in 2010 and the Timewalk went with it. An antiques emporium ran from 2013 to 2017 and the museum's home there closed in 2016. The Grade II listed building is being converted to housing with ground floor retail and a permanent home for Weymouth Museum.
Go here instead. Weymouth Museum is currently a pop up at 39b St Thomas Street, opposite Tesco. Free, and open Monday to Saturday with hours that vary by day.

The beach observation wheel
A 26 metre wheel opened on Weymouth Beach on 29 April 2025 and one report said it would stay until October. No 2026 source confirms it is back. It stays off the site until the seafront concession office confirms it.
Coastline Heritage Cruises
Their website returned server errors on repeated attempts, so we cannot confirm they are trading in 2026.
Jurassic Coast Cruises
jurassiccoastcruise.co.uk is stuck in a redirect loop and could not be loaded. Possibly no longer trading.
Weymouth Pavilion autumn dates
The Pavilion's own What's On page would not load, so the autumn 2026 dates on this site come from listings sites and are flagged as needing box office confirmation.
